8 Home Remedies For Dry And Rough Elbows

You may have the softest skin on your face, but when it comes to the elbows, we often find them to be dry and rough, as compared to the rest of our body. These problem areas are a constant beauty concern for many women. Some even avoid exposing their elbows! If you too are embarrassed by the same woe, here are a few home remedies, that can be easily be found at your home.

1. Sugar Scrub
The sugar scrub is the one of the best remedies for dry and rough elbows. The sugar granules help peel off the dead skin cells, thus allowing new skin cells to form. Not only does this make the skin look younger, but also makes it soft.

Remedy: Take a spoonful of honey and add some raw sugar in it. Mix it well, and then rub this scrub on your elbows, in a circular motion. Rinse well later. For best results, do this once every week.

2. Lemon or Potato
Both, lemon and potato, have bleaching properties, which makes them ideal for most beauty treatments, including this one.

Remedy: Simply cut a lemon into half and rub it on your elbows, or a cut a slice of potato and do the same thing. This will help make the area lighter. Mixing a bit of honey with it will help moisturise the skin too!

3. Oil Massage
Oil can seep into your skin and help moisturise it, naturally and internally. Since elbows don’t have oil glands, an oil massage would be the best remedy for dry and rough elbows. You could use any oil – be it olive, almond or coconut oil.

Remedy: Take a few drops of the oil of your choice and gently massage it on your elbows. Let it stay for a few minutes and rinse. For maximum benefit, you can just massage the oil well and leave it without washing it with water.

4. Banana Peel
To reduce dryness, one can also rub a banana peel on their elbows. Bananas are  rich in vitamin C (which aids in healing), and the peel has been scientifically proven to contain both antifungal and antibiotic components.

Remedy: Take a used banana peel and rub it onto your elbows. Make sure that you rub the peel in a circular motion.

5. Aloe Vera Gel
A ‘miracle’ plant, the aloe vera is used to solve many skin and hair woes. Rich in antioxidants, this plant can also smoothen out your elbows effortlessly.

Remedy: Take the aloe vera gel and apply it on your elbows. Massage it gently, for awhile and then let it sit for about 15 minutes. Use this twice in a day, for better results.

6. Apple Cider Vinegar
A popular ingredient for many beauty treatments, the apple cider vinegar can help soothe out those dry and rough elbows in no time!

Remedy: Mix some apple cider vinegar with water and dilute it. Use a soft cotton pad or ball, and apply the diluted mix on your elbows. Leave it for about 10 minutes and rinse it off with cold water. Moisturise well later. For better results, repeat this process for 3-4 times in a week.

7. Yogurt
Cooling and satisfying, yogurt is best known to help promote healthy and shiny hair. But did you know it could soothe and brighten dry and rough elbows? Yes, it absolutely can!

Remedy: Mix a tablespoon of yogurt with a tablespoon of vinegar, and apply it on your elbows. Massage well and leave it on for about 20 minutes. Rinse well later, and pat it dry. Apply some moisturiser, to retain the natural softness of the skin.

8. Moisturiser
Applying a moisturiser on your skin, especially on your elbows, will ensure that it remains soft. So along with the above mentioned remedies, apply a good moisturiser on your elbows to protect them from getting rough and dry.
