“I bought the magazine at 11 a.m. and within 20 minutes of dedicated reading, I had decided to get rid of my long locks and have now got cool, spiky hair, just like Yuvraj Singh on the WWW page.”

Just married!
BAISHALI CHATTERJEE helps you work your mane magic on the love of your life, even as you enjoy your most romantic days — your honeymoon.
Weddings can be exhilarating as well as stressful, especially Indian weddings (and even more so for the bride!). The pressure to look good and happy all the time can get the better of you. A honeymoon, then undoubtedly, is a time the newly-weds look forward to. Look your best during this trip — after all, you’ll be looking at those pictures for the rest of your life. We help you with some quick, yet fab, styles as you hit the beach or enjoy scenic mountains.

Baywatch

Shirin Merchant of Kut & Make Salon says, “Hair becomes sticky and limp near the beach. So, go in for the scrunched look using a mild serum such as L’Oréal Professionnel’s Liss Ultime on the lengths of your hair. Simply twist up the scrunched hair from the back with a zig-zag parting and a few loose strands left carelessly in front to get that glam, curled updo for a night out. Seema V. Jerajani of Fusions insists on not tampering too much with your hair on the beach. “The market, today, is full of salt sprays to help achieve the right texture and look of beach hair. Therefore, leave your hair open for a day out on the beach, but remember to wash off the sand and salt to prevent excessive moisture being stripped from your strands,” she says. For an evening at the beach or a shack party, Seema suggests a chignon or a top knot, depending on your outfit. If the neckline is low, opt for a low, loose chignon tied at the nape, with strands flowing out. If you’re donning a high-necked outfit, tie a casual top knot and accessorise it with pins and clips. Alternately, if you’ve got wavy hair, you can just leave it open, twirling the ends with your fingers to add more volume. Don’t forget to spray your hair with some moisture kick before rushing out for the night. This will define the waves and add volume to your voluptuous hair.

On a high

According to Shirin, “The mountain air, on the other hand, can create a different kind of havoc on your hair. The cold air and relatively lower oxygen level can leave your hair dry and scraggly. Carry a leave-in conditioner such as Garnier Fructis’ Leave-in Conditioning Cream in your pouch and apply it generously on your hair after a wash. If you want to jazz it up, twist small sections of hair from the front on either side of your parting and clip it back. This will leave you looking pretty and feminine. ”

“For the night, plait your hair in a messy braid to one side and secure diamante clips or an orchid flower to add the oomph factor. Make sure you pull out some strands from the braid to get the appropriately messy look. Add some hair wax before you tie your hair to ensure extra shine and zing,” Shirin adds.

“Tie a high, asymmetric ponytail when you’re out for the day. Go feminine and glam for the evening. A loosely tied French braid with a colourful scarf braided into the plait will spice up the look and make your husband thank his lucky stars. If you don’t have the time to plait your hair, simply leave it open, pushing it to one side. Secure it with bobby pins at the bottom and clip a natural flower at the side,” says Seema.
