“I bought the magazine at 11 a.m. and within 20 minutes of dedicated reading, I had decided to get rid of my long locks and have now got cool, spiky hair, just like Yuvraj Singh on the WWW page.”

Kick-start the New Year with Wella Professional’s haute couture looks, unveiled at the recently held International Trend Vision Award (ITVA).

Grace: the modern muse

The inspiration behind this look is nature. The hair looks extravagant, yet simple, with a luxurious flare to it. Grace lets her hair down. She represents poise, perfection and purity. Jeremy Scott, fashion icon, says, “‘Barbie Goes Country’ perfectly exemplifies Grace’s silhouette.” “The look was fun and young and a bit Beverly Hillbillies,” adds Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Wella Professionals.

Cut: Long hair with a strong, blunt fringe is the trend this season. The hair is disconnected with visible lines.

Colour: This look is dominated with different hues of gold — ranging from warm to more natural tones. The different shades of sand as reflected by the sun at different time of the day inspire this trend, and boy are we loving it!

Style: The hair is styled straight with a rounded shape at the ends.

Blaze: the femme fatale

Blaze represents the woman of today — fun and fearless. She is ablaze with passion and has no qualms about admitting it. The inspiration behind this look is the burlesque dancer from the ’20s. According to Souleiman, “When so much is going on in the clothes, it is important to refine and define the hair, so that it is a statement in itself.”

Cut: Short, sharp and with definite bold lines — hair can be worn sleek straight or with curvy lines.

Colour: Flamboyant fuchsia accent combined with black is what makes this look sizzle.

Style: Short bob with shattered ends for a more wearable style or gelled glossy hair with structured shape for the avant garde look.
Celeste: the free spirit

An air of mystery and edge of cosmic daring is what makes this look stand apart from the crowd. Celeste is a modern-day heroine with an independent streak. She marks a quest for new sensations, for purity and light, for unseen and unfelt textures, which are free from any earthly compromise.

Cut: The cut is more graphic and streamlined with clean shapes, bringing depth and weight back in the hair.

Colour: Cool tones of iridescent and pale blue tones give this look a unique feel.

Style: The hair is styled back with height to create sophistication in style.
Roxy: the scene stealer

A look inspired by the rebirth of underground club culture, Roxy is the cynosure of all eyes. She is a trendsetter and makes heads turn wherever she goes. Relive the retro trend with high-end hippy culture of the ’70s with this statement.

Cut: Influenced by the ’70s, the length is kept up to the shoulders or a bit longer.

Colour: Shades of purple, deep reds and blues accentuate the cut and style.

Style: In keeping with the retro theme, the style is either extremely straight or curly. Look out for the graphic design of the hair.
