Our April issue featured the amazing transformation of a young lady’s locks from coarse and dry to sleek and groomed — all thanks to X-tenso Moisturist, the latest straightening range from L’Oréal Professionnel. Now, one more lady, Varsha Talreja, got lucky too. Shura Khan, senior hairstylist at Guy Kremer’s Eyecatchers Salon, Mumbai, put the power of this revolutionary service into Varsha’s hair.

There are two services that can be created using the X-tenso Moisturist range, namely shine-bond and shine-straight. While shine-bond (the service featured in the April issue), is apt for those who want perfectly straight and shiny hair, Shura felt that for Varsha’s frizzy but not-so-curly hair, the shine-straight service, which gives a naturally straight look to the hair, would be apt. As compared to the shine-bond service the shine-straight service has fewer steps and is less time consuming.

The procedure

The treatment began with a hair wash, using the L’Oréal Professionnel Pre-Forme Shampoo. Shura then blow-dried Varsha’s hair straight. Next, the X-tenso Moisturist Natural Resistant Hair Cream was applied in liberal quantities throughout Varsha’s hair, from the nape through to the crown. Her hair was then wrapped in cling wrap to maintain the heat in the hair and scalp. This was left on for about 35 minutes. After doing a curl check test, where it is essential to have a curl pattern of 80-90%, the cream was rinsed out. A semi blow-dry later, Shura ironed Varsha’s hair thoroughly. Next, the X-tenso Moisturist Neutraliser was applied onto Varsha’s hair and left on for around 10 minutes. After rinsing out the Neutraliser, her hair was blow-dried. Now, the X-tenso Moisturist Masque was applied and left on for around five minutes. This was followed by a hair wash and blow-dry.
