With family events and celebrations lined up, you want your appearance to be different and startling for each occasion. We present four looks that can rocket you into the limelight this season.
What you want? A dewy-complexioned radiant face with natural make-up for a day event.
You need: A moisturiser or skin softener, a BB cream, a lip plumper, lipstick, kohl pencil, eyeliner, mascara and rouge.
Your skin is the star in this look. Start with a well-moisturised face. Apply a BB cream to camouflage your flaws without weighing down the skin. Apply a lip plumper followed by a long-stay matte lipstick in pink or peach. For the eyes, keep it simple by using a combination of any two — kohl pencil, eyeliner and mascara. Dust pink rouge lightly on your cheeks for a rosy glow.
What you want? A day look that’s colourful yet elegant.
You need: A tinted moisturiser, a face primer, eyeshadow palette, glossy lipstick, mascara, rouge.
A tinted moisturiser will give you a headstart as it will act as a base and also give your complexion some warmth. A primer will add a sheen to your skin and you will look effortlessly radiant. Using the eyeshadow is the tricky part here. You can either go for a monotone with powder blue, baby pink or mossy green or opt for a combination of colours to suit your outfit. For a more dramatic effect, add a stroke of nude glossy (not glittery) eyeshadow and mascara for long lashes. Avoid kohl or eyeliner for this look. For the lips, go for glossy dark pinks or oranges. Rouge should be placed aslant your cheek bone for contouring.
What you want? A stylish look for an evening event.
You need: A skin softener, crème foundation, concealor, bronzer, eyeshadow palette, lipstick, lip gloss, mascara, kohl.
Keep your skin well-moisturised and hydrated for this look. Start with a crème foundation that’s one shade lighter than your natural skin tone. Apply concealor above the foundation on areas that require it. This way you use less product. Pick a dark tone for the eyes — deep blue or emerald green or grey. You can either create the smoky eye effect and round it off with mascara or go for the regular eye-shadow application and add a hint of kohl on the lower lash to make a striking statement. For the lips, pick shades that complement your attire, but don’t go too dark. Finish off with a generous coat of lip gloss. Apply bronzer in the figure of three beginning from your brow area and ending on the chin.
What you want? A startlingly sexy appearance that’s posh and daring.
You need: A moisturiser, crème foundation, concealor, bronzer, eyeshadow palette, matte lipstick, glitter powder, mascara, white
Use moisturised skin as your base and start off with a crème foundation. Apply concealor wherever required. Create smoky eyes using colours such as blue and green. Apply a white line on the inner line of your brow and blend it to create a contouring effect. Avoid mixing colours and keep the lower lash area clean except for a line of white pencil to accentuate. Go as dark as you can on the lips – think berry or plum. Balance off the smoky eyes and dark lip colour with matte effect. Dab a bit of glitter on the centre of the lips for dramatic effects. Use the bronzer to contour the cheek bone.
