Celluloid does not do justice to Dia Mirza. At a photo shoot in a suburban Mumbai hotel, Dia’s radiance shines through. Dressed in a fitted black dress, her hair flicked out and left loose, skin flawless, she looks simple yet elegant.
Personal touch
As we sit down to chat, I am surprised to hear Dia break into Bengali to give me home remedies for a rather frustrating sty that has recently popped up. “My mom is Bengali,” she laughs at my confused expression. “She’s always been my pillar of strength, best friend and idol. My dad was a German architect — he was completely artistic; always painting or taking photographs. My earliest memories are of sandpapering furniture.”
