Need to kill those germs but finding it hard to find a sanitizer at a store? Fret not for we’ve got some diy recipes to help you get rid of those germs.
If you’ve been to a pharmacy off late to buy a hand sanitizer you’ve probably been told that the stocks are over or you’ve noticed empty racks. Indeed the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in empty shelves everywhere. For a disease like the Coronavirus, washing hands regularly and keeping it clean is one way to stay safe from it. But panic buying has resulted in lack of or low supply of sanitizers. Getting a sanitizer from a store may take a while, in the meanwhile we list a few recipes with ingredients you may (hopefully) already have in your home.
- Take 10 drops of Tea Tree essential oil and lemon. Tea tree oil and lemon, both are antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory.Combine these ingredients and mix well. Fill an empty spray bottle with the liquid and use as a sanitizer. Discontinue use in case of irritation or allergies.
- Take 10 drop of Eucalyptus oil and aloe vera gel. Eucalyptus oil is naturally antibacterial and aloe vera gel will help keep your hands soft. Combine these two ingredient to form a thick liquid. Fill it into a spray bottle and use as a hand sanitizer.
- Plain vinegar is another useful ingredient. It is antibacterial and is known to kill 99% of bacteria. Hence it only makes sense to add this into the list. Spray onto hands when required. The smell of the vinegar will dissipate quickly and leave your hands odour-free.
- It is important to note that the diy hand sanitizers are not the best substitute for hand washing. Use the home made sanitizers only if you are unable to get to a sink to wash your hands.
