They can either make or break your look.
Eyebrows have the potential to change your look with a finesse that hardly anything can match up to. There’s so much you can do with them – fill them in, brush them up or draw them on. Whether you choose to thread, pluck, wax or leave them untouched, your brows frame your face like nothing else can.
And now, thanks to the likes of Cara Delevingne, Rita Ora and the entire Kardashian Klan, not to mention our very own Bollywood actresses such as Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt, having statement eyebrows has become kind of a big deal over the past few years. Not that we’re saying it wasn’t a big deal before, but getting the perfect eyebrows has now become a necessity over anything else! So, what do you do if yours don’t quite stack up? With enough treatments and products, to daze even the most prolific beauty buff (and put a hefty hole in your bank balance), many people have looked into more permanent solutions, such as microblading.
What is microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent technique that allows people to wake up with eyebrows as fantastic as these! It’s like getting tiny little individual hairs tattooed on to your brows until it looks thick, sharp, even or however else you like it.
How does microblading work?
The entire process takes up to three hours, during which it takes one hour to just draw on and perfect the brows with a pencil. They make sure you have numbing gel on for about 40 minutes before they begin the technique with a microblading pen. The best part here is that the healing process isn’t as intensive as when you get a permanent tattoo, so you’re selfie-ready almost immediately!
Here’s a snippet of the process:
How long does microblading last?
Generally, microblading lasts anything between 12-18 months. But the longevity of the pigment also depends on your skin type. For people with oily skin, it will tend to last around the 12 month mark before needing a top up, but for those with normal skin, it can last up to 18 months. However, your brows will eventually fade away if you don’t continue with top ups every 18 months or so. There is no scaring or discolouration with the pigments used, so you wouldn’t know if you left them to fade out.
Does microblading hurt?
It doesn’t hurt as such, it is more like a sensation. The process itself is not painful thanks to the numbing ointment that is applied. It’s sometimes the sound of the blade which people find worse. In fact, the whole process is very quick – it’s actually the numbing which takes most of the time (around 50 mins), you aren’t under the needle for the whole 2 hours!
Can microbladed eyebrows be undone/removed?
Yes. As, the pigment used leaves no scarring or discolouration, you can use a salt/saline solution to remove microbladed brows.
Also, it is very important to know and understand that brows will be up to 40% darker in shade for the first 7-10 days during the healing process where scabs can form and flake off.Ladies can sometimes leave the studio, and two days later be terrified that their brows are too dark, but please be patient – as this is totally normal! After 7-10 days, you will begin to see the final colouring.
Basically, getting eyebrows that look like this all day, every day isn’t impossible. It might cost you upwards of Rs. 50,000, but it lasts for about two years which to us sounds like a seriously good investment! What do you think of the same?
