Gearing up for the big day

The first thing Bhagat warns against is colour. “Do not play with synthetic colours, which most of us end up doing without realising how damaging they can be for the skin. Synthetic colours are like dyes and contain harsh chemicals that make the skin dry and cause irritation. They lead to other skin problems such as rashes, boils, pigmentation (brown patches), cuts, peeling and burning of the skin as well as skin allergies because the Indian woman has delicate skin.” In extreme cases, says Bhagat, the colours may even cause blindness.
He also recommends avoiding oil paints in black, metallic colours such as gold and silver and dark colours such as purple and blue. “Colours with shimmer contain glass particles,” he says. “Use light colours such as green, yellow and red.”
