With us being in the midst of Navratri and Diwali being right around the corner, it is time for outings galore. Outfits and beauty department are sorted, hooray for mastering the art of contouring and winged liner. Those hairstyles saved on Pinterest seem difficult to execute? And then half heartedly, you resort to straightening or curling your tresses, like every year.

To save you from the monotony, we’ve taken on the laborious task of shortlisting some festive hairstyles. We ensure your hair will be kept off your face, so you can enjoy the festivities, greeting your guests, socialising and dancing without bothering about it. Enhance your look with these easy-to-do hairstyles.

Psst; did we mention it works from short to long hair lengths?

Twisted Ponytail

Pre-prep: Curl your hair, and then run fingers through your hair to create a tousled look.

Steps

  1. Centre-part your hair. Take a section of hair from slightly above your right ear and twist this section towards the back of the head.
  2. Repeat step 1 for left side of the head.
  3. Tie the two twisted sections together with a hair tie.
  4. Flip the tied section up and around the hair tie to tighten the twist. Then, gently pull onto the twists to make them look fuller.
  5. Combine the rest of the loose hair together and tie it into a ponytail directly under the flipped section.
  6. Take a section of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the hair tie. Secure using bobby pins.
  7. Finish with some hairspray (optional).

Mohawk Braided Top Knot

Steps

  1. Create two parts (left and right side) from the corners of the forehead back to the crown area. Clip this section and roughly tie the bottom section of your hair to keep it away.
  2. Unclip the top area of hair and start creating Dutch braids from the hairline backwards to the crown area.
  3. Once your braid reaches the crown area, tie the remaining hair at the end of the crown into a messy top knot and secure your bun with bobby pins.
  4. Let the bottom section of the hair loose, and add some waves to your hair with a straightening or curling machine.
  5. Finish with some hairspray (optional).
