How To Fake A Longer Ponytail (Without Any Hair Extensions)

Designed by Freepik

The ponytail is, and will always be, the go-to hairstyle for no-fuss days. This upgrade is perfect for when you want to take your pony to the next level by faking some extra “length.”

You will need:
 Hair elastics
 Hair clips
 Comb and/or brush

Step 1: Brush out those locks well. Make sure that you remove any knots before trying on the hairdo. You could use a wide-toothed comb or a your regular hair brush, to do the same.

Step 2: Then take an upside-down U shaped section from either side of your neck up to form  your top ponytail. You only need to leave enough hair at the side to cover the lower section, and that way you’ll be able to create ponytails of almost equal size. The top ponytail, however,  will still be a little longer.

Step 3: Clip the top section up and gather the lower section into a ponytail at the nape of your neck. And remember, the lower the bottom ponytail, the longer your hair will look.

Step 4: And finally, unclip the top section  and gather the rest of your hair into a ponytail at the crown of your head or at the back of your head. Use clear hair elastics or a colour that matches your hair.

Double-Ponytail Styling Trick:
So as to not expose the secret double ponytail beneath, pin a small piece of hair loosely at the sides of the second ponytail. This will help maintain the illusion of a longer ponytail.
