We’ve come a long way down with our eyebrows. Yes you heard it right eyebrows!
The only facial feature that we previously ignored, had suddenly become a beauty obsession for many. Luckily these days we wear our brows with pride, regardless of the shape and style.
People have even stopped freaking about unibrows! All thanks to our Bollywood actresses, who made unibrows a style statement.
Grappling this new brow obsession, we’ve decided to take you back to some of the most iconic Bollywood eyebrows of all time!
Densely rounded in the front but gently high-arched on the sides, were the eyebrows of the 1950s. Glamorously painted, the brows was a very neat business in the 1950s.
The 60s got the eyebrows to be a lot more thinner than its predecessors. The glamorous thickness was no longer there. Iconic yesteryear actresses such as Madhubala, were known to carry such eyebrows.
Softly arched and elegantly drawn in, were the eyebrows of the early 70s. They were what many say a more balanced take on the brows of the 60s. It was only in the late 70s, when managing skinnier brows became important. Actresses such as Hema Malini and Parveen Babi, carried these brows with center parted bangs and long straight hair, emphasizing on the eye area more.
Marked by some of the iconic actresses, such as Madhuri Dixit Nene, the 80s was all about being natural. By the time it was the early 80s, the skinny brows became a passing fad for many women who were looking to maintain their naturally, thick brows.
It was only in the 90s, when the brows entered another skinny stage. Inspired by the likes of Kate Moss, we saw many actresses such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shilpa Shetty Kundra, wear those sparse 90s brows.
The dot com era, saw the increasing fad for Megan Fox’s alluring, high arches. In Bollywood, it was actresses such as Katrina Kaif, who sported these brows for quite some time.
Painstakingly natural (thanks to a ton of brow products), were the softly arched brows of 2015. One could actresses such as Alia Bhatt, sport these brows in many of her hit films.
It’s the year of the unibrow! With the brow obsession changing every period, the unibrows were shunned for quite awhile until this year. All owing to Deepika Padukone, who sported the unibrows in her recent hit film, Padmaavat.
