Ready to Party: Day to Night Make-Up Transformation

Transform your basic day make-up into a stunning evening one as you get ready to hit the town…

From plain Jane during the day, to a daring diva by the evening—that’s the story of most of us during the wedding and party season. So, how can you go from a rather simple day look at the office to a stunning one in the evening? A couple of easy and smart tricks can help you work the magic.
Scenario 1
Heading to a sparkling cocktail party!
Day Look: BB cream + light pink eyeshadow + kohl + nude or light pink lipstick
Evening Transformation: Sushma Khan, National Creative Director Make-up, Lakmé Salon, shares, “Apply some glitter eyeliner to highlight the eyes on the existing eyeshadow. Then, use a darker shade of lip liner to outline your lips. To finish the look with an illuminating appeal, apply some highlighter on the cheeks. This easy look doesn’t need additional heavy duty make-up products; just a few things from your kit and you’re sorted.”
Scenario 2
Decking up for a fun Christmas party!
Day Look: Eyeliner + kohl + nude lips
Evening Transformation: Khan notes, “Use a kohl pencil and line the lid with it. Use your fingers to smudge the liner over the line drawn and on the outer ends of your eyes to create a smoky eye. Opt for a neutral shimmery shadow and layer your lashes with oodles of mascara to create dramatic eyes. Use a highlighter on the cheeks to make your face appear slimmer. Finish the look with a layer of a deep shade of shimmery gloss that matches your outfit.”

Scenario 3
Glam up to go clubbing all night!
Day Look: BB cream + kohl + pink lipstick
Evening Transformation: Fiona Caroline, Beauty Advisor, Lancôme, says, “From a day look with a basic BB cream, create a base with a foundation. Create smokey eyes, using a mix of shades from a palette such as the Lancôme Hypnôse Palette for a soft-to-dark intense look. Use a light shade as a base and highlighter all over the eyelid, right up to the brows, and a shimmery pale gold shade in the inner corners of the eyes. Apply the kohl on the waterline and tightline. Apply a brownish-black shade as a liner to the upper and lower lids to intensify the look further. Blend in the darkest shade from the palette from the outer corner of the eyelid, inwards in the crease, to create depth. Create an artistic and impeccable line that gets very close to the lash root. Top your lashes with a mascara for high volume, curve and length, adding to that special gaze. Don’t forget to contour the cheeks with a blush for a sculpted look. Add a dash of colour to your lips to make heads turn!”

Scenario 4
Time to ring in the New Year!
Day Look: Nude eyeshadow + kohl + nude lips
Evening Transformation: Caroline says, “From a day nude look, just touch-up for a sophisticated one with some foundation, for a luminous complexion. Create smoky eyes with icy blue, denim blue, and charcoal black eyeshadow shades, for a soft and cool to dark and deep intense look. Apply a layer of base and apply a highlighter shade all over the eyelid—right up to the brows, and in the inner corner of the eye. Apply the kohl on the waterline and jab kohl or eyeliner in between your lashes to make the crops appear more plentiful. Then, move the eyeliner, blending upwards from the lash line over eyelid. Apply a darker intensity blue to the top and bottom lids to intensify the look. Blend-in the darkest hue you wish to use from the outer corner of the eye inwards, into the crease to create depth. Top the look with a mascara. Keep the suspense on with a touch of blush!”
