Long, strong dark black hair is what we all desire.

Interestingly your hair grows only 15 cm per year. How fast hair grows also depends on factors like age, health, genetics, and diet. However the only factor that we have control over is our diet. Our diet plays an essential part in our growth or loss of hair; eating right increases hair growth while a poor diet induces hair loss.

 Berries and citrus fruits

Both berries and citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C. vitamin C has a high content of antioxidant properties.

Fatty fish, nuts and seeds

Omega 3 fatty acids aids nourishing hair and supporting its thickness. Our body doesn’t promote these healthy fats thus we need to obtain them from external sources. Fatty fish like mackerel and salmon, nuts like almonds and walnuts and seeds like flaxseeds are the best sources.

Besides the above being good sources of omega 3 they individually have their plus points. Fatty fish also provides protein, selenium, vitamins B and D.

Nuts also are a source of vitamin B, essential fatty acids and zinc. Nuts have also been linked to other health benefits like reduction in inflammation and lower heart rate.

Lastly seeds provide a massive quantity of nutrients in relatively few calories. Seeds provide nourishment in zinc, selenium and vitamin E. flaxseeds are a great replacement for fatty rich fish. Sunflower, flaxseeds and chai seeds are some seeds you must include in your diet.

Avocado

Avocados are delicious an excellent source of healthy fats. They are an amazing source of vitamin E. vitamin E improves blood circulation which helps follicles work more efficiently thus promoting hair growth. It also helps maintain the PH balance and oil protecting the scalp and skin.

Carrots

Carrots are rich in vitamin A. the hair contains the fastest growing tissue in the body and vitamin A boosts this growth. It also helps the scalp produce natural oils and strengthens the roots. So go on and drink a glass daily!
