An absolute change from his previous movies, Bombay Velvet saw the actor in a never-before-seen avatar as street-fighter Johnny Balraj. To keep the retro look of the film. he sported medium-length. Curly, unkempt hair and clean-shaved look.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil saw Ranbir in a more stylish and put together look. Trendy jackets, overcoats and shirts, understated t-shirts, cool sunglasses et al. With a neat haircut and a stubble, he looked suave and poised and pulled off the look with perfect ease.
