We escaped to Radisson Blu’s Escenza Spa, Alibaug for a weekend of pampering.
In a quest to escape from the hustle bustle of work and the city life, we took on the opportunity to check out the Radisson Blu Spa & Resort, in Alibaug. The beautiful, lush property is situated in a small coastal town merely 1.5 hours away from Mumbai city, making it an ideal location for a quick weekend getaway. The garden resort boasts of state-of-the-art amenities, mouthwatering cuisine, cosy rooms and cottages that are ideal for families. On our agenda was visiting Escenza Spa, the Resort’s premium spa and wellness centre.
After checking in and indulging in a scrumptious breakfast, we walked into Escenza Spa. Enveloped by trees, this section of the Spa is built beautifully such that it exudes a tranquil vibe—walking in, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that we were excited to explore the spa menu!
After filling a preliminary form, we preferred service—the Body Scrubs and Wrap, in the Lemon Orange and Mint and Musk variants. While the former is ideal for de-tanning of skin, the latter one works for skin brightening and hydration. As we sipped on (rather, gulped) our welcome drinks, we were greeted by our respective therapists, who ushered us into the therapy rooms.
Escenza Spa has 7 spacious couple and single treatment rooms, along with a salon. They come equipped with in-built steam and shower cabins. Our rooms were dimly-lit, with soothing music playing in the background which was peaceful and calming. The service started with foot ritual and aura cleansing, which set the mood right for the treatment that we were about to experience.
The treatment was divided into four sections—a 5-minute steam session, body scrub, body wrap and a final shower. We were informed that the steam was essential for the pores to open up, which would aid in the skin soaking up the goodness of scrub and wrap.
The therapists used gentle but firm strokes while scrubbing which made sure the skin is exfoliated properly to bring out the suppleness and brightness of it. After cleansing the scrub off with water, a body mask was applied and the body was wrapped in thin sheets for 20 minutes. Though the scrub was invigorating as a standalone service, it didn’t come coupled with a massage. Like us, if you feel a massage is essential for a complete relaxing experience, do not forget to book yourself a separate service for it. After a final hot shower, the service ended with cups of steaming herbal tea.
After one hour of pampering and a cool dip in the pool, we wrapped up the evening blissfully on our mini vacation!
