“I bought the magazine at 11 a.m. and within 20 minutes of dedicated reading, I had decided to get rid of my long locks and have now got cool, spiky hair, just like Yuvraj Singh on the WWW page.”

SOHINI DEY travels to Pune to find a spa that believes in making it large — whether in terms of size or treatments.
An invitation to the newly launched Quan Spa at the Pune Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre was a prospect I was looking forward to. This is the second of its kind to be launched in the country, after the highly acclaimed one in Mumbai's JW Marriott, and its launch certainly caused much excitement. I was told that this new spa was bigger and better. While I have not been to the Mumbai counterpart and thus cannot compare, I must admit that travelling to Pune for a treatment was a worthwhile effort.

I was somewhat taken aback to see the magnitude of the spa. In the midst of a steadily increasing number of ‘spalons’, which often consist of just one little room tucked away behind the main salon area for massages, Quan Spa is a welcome change. Large, spacious and incredibly quiet, it immediately evokes a sense of peace and calm.
My attendant, a sweet and petite lady, led me to my massage room. A pristine fragrance enveloped the softly-lit chambers and soothing music played in the background — it was a place that allowed you to de-stress from the moment you stepped in. As she washed my feet with milk soaked with rose petals, my masseuse inquired if I was under any medication or suffering from any ailment. She then recommended an aroma fusion massage. The rest was 60 minutes of bliss, which passed a little too quickly. A combination of aromatic oils was applied on my body and massaged with great expertise. As I drifted in and out of comfortable sleep, an hour flew by and left me wondering why this couldn't go on for a while longer.

After the treatment and a delish warm shower, I was led into the relaxation chambers for a cup of green tea and a light siesta. This was followed by a guided walk across the spa, which is also equipped with facilities for hydrotherapy and a host of other massages. Besides a collection of natural oils and ingredients, the spa exclusively uses products from Dermalogica for treatments. Moreover, the prices of even the most luxurious treatments are quite affordable. I left the spa premises with a serene freshness clinging to my skin, which lasted for days.
