When it comes to beauty products, there’s nothing better than having customised formulas that not only look great on you but make you feel great as well. You’ll agree with us when we say that the best way to achieve this is to make the products yourself! Homemade products are safe, free of harmful chemicals and also healthy as they are made of natural ingredients. We’ve put together a selection of products that you can make yourself with a few easily available ingredients. Frugal yet functional…try these simple homemade versions of your favourite beauty products!

Make-up Setting Spray:

You’ll need:

• 3 tbsp filtered water

• 1 tbsp glycerine

• 2-3 drops of aromatic  essential oils

• An empty spray bottle

Mix the ingredients together, stirring thoroughly. Pour them into the spray bottle and spritz on after you apply your make-up to fix it well in place.


Shaving Cream: 
Silky smooth arms and legs are just three ingredients away!

You’ll need: 

• 1/4 cup aloe vera extract

• 1/4 cup coconut oil

• 4-6 drops of essential oil  (lavender, lemon, peppermint—have your pick)

Melt the coconut oil and combine It with the aloe vera extract. Stir the essential oil in the mix as well and store in a plastic container. Apply this on your arms or legs a couple of minutes before you shave—enjoy smooth, soft results after!


Anti-Cellulite Scrub:
With regular use, this promises to be a great solution to get rid of the pesky nightmare—cellulite. Worth giving it a shot, we say!

You’ll need: 

• 1/2 cup ground coffee

• 1/4 cup rock salt

• 1/4 cup brown or  granulated sugar

• 1/4 cup olive oil

Mix all the ingredients together and store it in an air-tight container. Use this on cellulite ridden areas when in the shower—massage and scrub it thoroughly in circular motions on cellullite-ridden areas. Use this twice a week for visible results.


Under-eye Cream:
Bye bye, puffy eyes! Use as much or as little of this wonder potion to deal with under-eye bags.

You’ll need: 

• 3/4 cup moisturiser

• 1/2 tbsp coffee extract

• 2-3 drops of jojoba oil

In a container, blend the moisturiser and coffee extract thoroughly, till the powder totally mixes with the cream. Add the jojoba oil to this and store it in an air-tight jar. Apply this concoction on the under-eye area and watch the puffiness vanish!


Lotion Bars:
Spoil yourself with these yummy, moisturising lotion bars that you can whip up in a jiffy.

You’ll need: 

• 1 cup coconut oil

• 1 cup beeswax

• 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil

Place a pan on medium heat and melt the coconut oil in it. Add the beeswax in as well and let them blend. Mix in the lavender essential oil. Pour the mixture into moulds and let them cool. Once cool, remove them from the mould and enjoy the soothing bars which instantly hydrate your skin!


Make-up Remover Pads:
Quick and easy-to-use, keep these by your bedside for times when you’re too lazy to follow a thorough cleansing routine!

You’ll need: 

• 2 tbsp coconut oil

• 2 tbsp baby wash

• 2 cups of purified water

• 2 packs of cotton pads

• Tea tree essential oil

Mix all the ingredients together. You may even microwave them for 10-30 seconds to ensure that all the ingredients have blended well. Dip the cotton pads in this mixture and place each carefully in an air-tight mason jar.
