If royalty used the magic beverage to beautify their skin, why shouldn’t you?
Milk has a whole lot of benefits. As kids, we guzzled down glasses of milk for stronger bones and teeth and our daily intake of nutrients. It is not only a good source of calcium and vitamins and excellent for overall health but extremely beneficial in skincare too. Some known skin benefits of milk are: a great skin cleanser, protects skin from harsh UV rays, acts as a great moisturiser, softens skin and soothes dry skin.
This World Milk Day, look at some ways in which the wonder milk can be a part of your beauty regime.
As a gentle moisturiser
This moisturiser definitely deserves a place in your beauty regime. Mash a banana and add it to 1 tbsp of milk. Mix well and apply it on face; leave it on for 25-30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. The combination of milk and banana leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth and supple.
As an invigorating scrub
Blend a little milk with oats, sugar and honey together. Sure it looks like a yummy, tempting treat to devour but the beauty benefits of this combination is even better. Gently scrub your skin with this mixture in circular movements to have a whole new glowing you!
As a brightening face mask
Take 2 tbsps of besan (gram flour), add to it a pinch of turmeric powder and 1 tsp fresh cream and mix well. Add milk and mix it well, until the paste becomes thick. Apply it on your face for 30 minutes; rinse it off with cool water after it dries completely. This face mask gets rid of skin impurities and gives you a lit-from-within glow.
As a soothing body wash
Take a cup of milk. Add some mild liquid soap and 7-8 drops of lavender and basil essential oils to it. Stir these ingredients and shake the bottle well as there are chances that the mixture might separate after adding them together. Voila! Your soothing and calming body wash is ready to be used.
As a revitalising bath soak
For this one, you will need 1 cup powdered milk, ¼ cup cornstarch, ¼ cup baking soda and rose essential oil. Mix the ingredients and allow them to sit for 24 hours. Enjoy a long, warm and relaxing soak with this revitalising bath soak.
