The Lazy Girl’s Beauty Manual

Aparna Ayyar lists her favourite life-changing beauty hacks that will call out to the lazy girl in you.

If crawling out of bed, rushing to get dressed and staggering out sounds like your morning routine, we hear you and feel your pain. If you like to hit the snooze button a couple of times before finally getting out of bed or even like to brush your teeth in the shower to save time, you’re going to need a couple of tricks to expedite your beauty routine to help you look great.

Long Lasting Lipstick

If your lipstick gets smeared all over and you’re leaving remnants on your coffee cup, chances are that your lipstick does not stay fresh at the end of the day. A great way to ensure that your lipstick lasts all day is to cover your lips with a tissue after application and dust translucent powder on the tissue. Now you can go ahead, eat, drink and be merry.

Perfect Cat Eye

You know what they say about women who wear cat eye make-up…They have a lot of time to kill. But just because you have very little time to spare and perhaps you’re just a tad lazy, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t indulge in some cattiness—eye make-up wise, we mean. To help create the perfect cat eye make-up, use a business card just under the lower lash to make a foolproof line.

Tired Eyes

Sure you can place slices of cucumber on your eyes to make them look less tired, but let’s be realistic. You only have nachos and stale cheese in your kitchen. A quick way to refresh your eyes is to use a white eye pencil to line the lower lash line and both corners of your eyes. Smudge the corners a little to look refreshed instantly.

Nail Art

If you don’t have the time or the inclination to go to a nail spa, use everyday things to create fabulous nail art. For a polka dotted accent nail, place a band-aid over a base application of your choice. Drizzle nail paint in a contrast colour on the gaping dots.

Manicure Growing Out

If your manicure is growing out, don’t panic. It’s not time to splurge on another one just yet. A little DIY will help you buy some extra time between manicures. The best way to deflect attention from a chipped or overgrown manicure is to glue glitter and rhinestones. Playful, pretty and practical.

Removing make-up

If your beauty routine after a night out is coming home and passing out on your bed, it’s bad news for your skin in the long-run. If you’re too lazy and tired to remove your make-up at night, make things easier by placing a small basket of wet wipes, make-up remover and night cream right next to your bed. Also, perhaps a Post-It on it that says ‘no excuses now’ would help as well.
