The ‘rich feel’ing

Often, we have prejudices, which later we find to be completely baseless — such as my dislike for green tea. And, this prejudice was dispelled at the Richfeel Trichology Centre, of all places.

Smiling faces greeted me as I entered the Richfeel Trichology Centre at Bandra, Mumbai. After waiting a bit, I was asked to meet the trichologists. After asking me some questions to gauge the history of my hair, one of them tested my scalp. Of course, as I suspected, dandruff was the first problem that was diagnosed. Besides that, the trichologist mentioned that my hair roots were swollen — a sign of stress.

After assessing the damage, the trichologist advised me to eat foods rich in iron, as she suspected my haemoglobin count to be low. For an oily scalp such as mine, I was told to oil and wash my hair at least thrice a week. Who would have thought that oil works for an oily scalp? Not me certainly!

Now, getting back to dispelling prejudices, I had made up my mind that green tea would taste awful, and therefore, when I was offered it at the Centre, I sipped it only grudgingly. But I tried & tested found, to my surprise, that I quite liked it. Since it is supposed to be full of antioxidants which are good for the hair, this was great news.

Thereafter, I was ushered into the treatment room, where a very gracious therapist explained every step of the treatment as she performed it. For me, she chose the Richfeel Tricho Scalp Treatment, which is beneficial for most hair types.

The first step was sterilisation of the hair, which helped disinfect it. The second step included Photobiotherapy (PBT), which stimulated the active hair follicles. Then, the therapist asked me to lie face-down on the bed, and carried out a manual lymphatic drainage, which helped in scalp detoxification. And finally, after about 15–20 minutes, she brought me ‘hair foods’, which included flax seeds, soya seeds, walnuts, almonds, green tea (again, it was great!) and a tall glass of water. These, she said, would make my scalp healthy. She also asked me to follow it up with a glass of water every hour for 12 hours, to ensure the treatment would work. As I left the Centre, feeling well-cared-for, I knew it would!
