Your House Party Look Simplified!

With home parties becoming the norm, RACHNA VIRDI gets celebrity makeup artist Bianca Louzado to share her tips on instant party makeup.

With the new normal being about intimate house parties and private gatherings, wondering how to dress up for the new year to suit the occasion? Would you like to go a bit dressy? And what party look have you planned? Yes it’s a house party, so you do not want to go OTT. But skipping the party hair and makeup completely is out of question. After all, having a few special friends over for the party is also a good enough reason to dress up. Just chill and follow these tips to set the party mood.

Basic guidelines by Bianca

  • The key is to look natural yet pretty.
  • Minimal make up is all the rage now and it is here to stay.
  • OTT makeup and hair is finding its way out.

Makeup rules to up your party look

  • Start with skin prepping

Prep your well cleansed skin with an NYX primer spray or Smashbox primer water. You can also use primer oil if you have dry skin.

  • Dab on some moisturiser

With winter setting in, the next step would be to use the Charlotte Tilbury magic cream. It acts as a good base under make up and is sufficiently moisturising.

  • Put on some concealer

The Nars creamy concealer or tart shape concealer lasts all night long and is crease less.

  • Do the foundation trick

The dewiest foundation for regular use would be Two-faced born this way or you could use a foundation of your choice mixed with a drop of Becca aluminising drops. You’d want to definitely nail the no-makeup look.

  • Setting is the keyword

You could use the Ben Nye banana powder or the Nars light reflecting pressed powder for your picture-perfect selfies.

  • Do the blush first

The liquid orgasm blush by Nars renders a very natural flush to the cheeks. You can also use Bobbi Brown lip and cheek tint in coral.

  • The lipstick game

Though lip colour is a personal preference, I would suggest a statement lip to uplift your mood or going all nude and perhaps a nude gloss to add a soft sheen.

  • Add some drama on the eyes

Nothing is safer than nude/taupe colours on the eyes. And yes, waterproof mascara done thrice and a spoolie to comb the lashes thereafter to make the lashes look separated and pretty.

  • Create the perfect contouring

My favourite is the Fenty Beauty matchstix but you could also use Marc Jacobs to warm up the skin slightly for a beautiful sun-kissed finish.

  • Time to fix it

An urban decay makeup fixer to make up your makeup last all night. Or perhaps fix it with the Tatcha luminous dewy skin mist to make your skin glow.
